About us
The purpose of this web page is to provide you, the parent, with information about the different options that are used in the treatment of autism. The BHARE Foundation does not endorse or condemn any treatment on this site, as it's purpose is to provide you with information so that you can make the best choice for your own child. We feel it is up to you, the parent, to make an informed decision about how to best help your child. If you have any questions about the following different treatments, we will be happy to discuss them with you. It is our intent that you gain at least some knowledge in the area of treatment, so you are able to help your child as much as possible. The treatments described in these pages may vary greatly and some may be controversial. It is important to remember that each child is very different. A treatment that works wonders for many children may not affect your child. On the other hand, treatments that have helped only a few children may be what your child needs. We encourage you to seek out anything you feel may help. All children can improve and be helped. Why would a treatment work so well for some and do nothing for others? We feel the answer to this question lies in the premise that autism has more than one cause. This thinking is the general consensus of most researchers. At least half of all autistic children have, or did have, severe gastrointestinal problems. Diarrhea and constipation are a common occurrence. Another common factor seems to be a history of recurring ear infections during infancy, resulting in frequent antibiotic treatment. Evidence is mounting to indicate an autoimmune problem in most children. If it is true that there are many causes, then certainly, it would seem logical that there would be many different treatments that work. While we don't have all the answers, we are here to provide you with any information we obtain. We strongly encourage you to become highly educated regarding autism. If there is information that we have left out that you feel is important, please let us know. Also, if you feel information is not as accurate as it could be, please help us make the necessary changes. The information contained herein will be a brief summary of each treatment as it would take several books to fully explain. A handful of children have been completely cured of autism. Not autism in remission, but cured. They no longer need ANY treatments. They are cured. Some professionals will tell you that it is not possible to be cured of autism. We say that it is. The proof is out there, and yet, most doctors refuse to believe it. The vast majority of children will show improvements after some, several, or all of the treatments below. Those children, will not be cured from these treatments, but will improve to varying degrees. Another small handful of children will have a "remission" from autism, and only remain that way as long as they maintain their treatment. It is our goal that the vast majority of these children, some day fall into the cured or remission categories. With your help, we can do it!
Final Thoughts It is my sincere hope that this information proves helpful to you, the parent. It was not my intention to overwhelm you, as I realize there is so much information. I probably left something out, as there is so much! Do the best you can and love your children. I think that is what all parents ever hope to do. I have listed other charitable organizations in this information. I of course feel that research in the areas of the gastrointestinal tract and autoimmune problems (including a possible link with vaccines) are the keys to helping our children in the near future. If you have other suggestions we are willing to listen. Furthermore, if you would like to earmark your donation to a specific researcher, we would be happy to direct your money in that way. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, suggestions, or concerns. I believe it is simply a matter of time before a cure is found. Please help speed up this process by making a donation today so that we may continue to fund cutting edge research. Donations can be made out to BHARE Foundation and sent to the address listed HERE.
